Planning My Garden For a Summer Full of Inspiration

My Sunday morning coffee and drawing sessions are probably one of my favorite moments of the whole week. I’ve got spring on the mind lately so I pulled out a flower reference book and got to sketching out some poppies. Even though I love each season and appreciate each one for what it is, the tricky thing about winter is that if you garden, which I do, then now is the time to plan your garden for the year. It’s hard not to get excited for spring when you’re sorting through seed packets and imagining how everything will look in the middle of summer. We just bought the seeds for our vegetable garden and, for the first time, I’m starting a cut flower garden too! I’m so excited to paint all the beautiful flowers and heirloom vegetables that will be sprouting up this year. Some of you might be interested in what I’m planting so I’m sharing all the links here in case you want the seeds for yourself.

I really wanted to source as many heirloom seeds as possible (especially for the tomatoes) and heard about Baker Creek Seeds through Megan Gilger of The Fresh Exchange. She is all about gardening as well and raves about this company. This is where I’ve bought all our vegetable seeds for the year. The flower seeds have all come from Select Seeds, which is a great company as well.

Do you garden? If so, what are you planting this year? Let me know in the comments!
