Fool's Spring

Ah, fool's spring. Those days in the midst of winter when the wind and chill temporarily lift to make way for a surprise: birds singing and warm mist in the air as you walk across the melting snow. It's the middle of February, but somehow feels April overnight. You start dreaming of green and all the flowers that will be and are almost foolish enough to think this change is here to stay. Of course, that's why it's called fool's spring. Freezing nights will return for a while longer but, until then, we can always dream.
